Honoring Ancestors
With the Veil between the worlds thin and passable, this is an idea time for divination or to honor those who have passed from our lived. We can honor ancient ancestors from far back along our family tree. We can honor heroes and heroines who have had an impact on our lives. We can honor recently deceased friends, family members, or even pets.
Public Altar (Sacred Space)
Here at Melange Magique, we provide a sacred space for all. It is a semi-private corner within our store with an altar, shrine and display shelf. All through October, it will be set up as an Ancestral Shrine. Come light a candle, make an offering, or write in our Ancestral Honoring Book. This is your opportunity to say or write whatever you wish or need or never had the chance to before. Say "goodbye" in a spiritual way in our Sacred Space.

In these uncertain times, one thing is certain: there are angels who are able to help us here on Earth. We have to remember to do two things: to first ask for help (aloud), and two, to notice when they are trying to get in touch with us. They let us know in several ways, but one of the most intriguing and fun ways is synchronicity. In the workshop we will come up with a definition of a "synchronicity moment", do some group sharing, do some writing or art (whatever comes easiest to you), and I will be presenting some angel material. There are certain things you can do in your daily life to attract the angels. I have been collaborating with the angels for nearly eighteen years, in spiritual guidance readings and healings as well as in workshops in Vermont and Switzerland.

This is an announcement for the public Mabon ritual that will be held this Saturday, September 19th, at Angrinon Park at noon.
Come celebrate with us this harvest festival. We will be re-enacting the death of the god, as the sacrifice for the harvest.
As this is a public ritual, feel free to invite friends and family members if you wish. If you have never been to a ritual before, this should be a good first experience!
Try to bring your drums and rattles if you have any and of course some feast food you wish to share.
We will be meeting at the entrance to Angrinon Metro (Ville LaSalle) at noon and together will migrate to the ritual site. The ritual may take 40 minutes, and the feast will be held immediately after.
This ritual will be held whether rain or shine! Come and enjoy nature in all her forms.

They are colored and mildly scented for 10 different blends (Attraction, Dragon's Blood, Fast Luck, Go Away Evil, High John, Jinx removing, Money Drawing, 7 African Powers, Uncrossing, and Van Van). Despite what the test labels might indicate, we recommend you use only a capful or two in your bucket of hot water for mopping your floors.
We have brewed hand wash! This is a high quality hand soap that is colored and scented for 5 different blends (Dragon's Blood, Love & Attraction, Luck & Money, Protection, and Spiritual Cleansing). This is almost a travel-sized bottle great for you backpack or purse.

Keeping it cool
Summer strikes back! After having had such a cool temperate season, this heat wave seems pretty killer to most of us who aren't part reptile.
To do our part in helping to keep our clients from melting like our beeswax candles, Melange Magique has gotten a new air conditioner unit to help cool things down, along with some lovely new fans in the window. That, along with the wonderful iced tea we have to offer in our tea corner, will surely help you find a few minutes of comfort and respite from the weather.

August Harvest
Celebrate the SUN and the sun god Lugh! August is the time of Lammas and Lughnasadh. While the sabbat holiday is on the 1st of August, we celebrate the sun nature's bounty in the early harvest of this time.
Early grains like corn is coming in season. Berries and more berries of many types flourish (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and more). Among the tree fruits that are in season too are the various plums and peaches and nectarines. Vegetables too are ready to harvest: beans, peas, tomatoes.
What can you do this month to celebrate?
Go to the market and buy from the farmers! Support them supporting you! We would not have these wonderful fruits and vegetables without the farmers to grow them.
Make a Lammas bread to share with your family! This recipe is taken from the Witches' Almanac 2004-2005:
Lammas Loaf:
Ingredients:
1 large 1french bread (or italian bread)
3 ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup black olives, pitted and sliced
1/4 pimento stuffed olives, sliced
4 scallions, thinly sliced
handful of parsley, chopeed
pinch of dried mint leaves
sprinkling of dried thyme
scattering of capers
1/4 cup grated parmesean cheese (we used romano and it was better)
1 tbsp olive oil
dash of lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
* slice one eld off the loaf od bread
* loosen the bread within and pull it out, leaving 1/2 inch of crust
* mix ingredients and crumbled bread in a bowl
* make sure the mix isn't too wet. if it is, add bread crumbs or use less tomatoes
* pack the stuffinf into the crust and wrap it in tinfoil.
* chill overnight
* slice and serve!

We will be at Kaleidoscope Gathering
Kaleidoscope Gathering is a Pagan camping festival in Ontario (about an hour from Montreal).
It hosts workshops, rituals, dancing and drumming around a fire, bardic competition, and so much more. Also, there are many exotic vendors! WE WILL BE ONE OF THEM! We will have a vending tent at this festival and hope to see you all there.

Eclipses
Did you know that this is a summer full of eclipses? Its true!
The first eclipse is a penumbral lunar eclipse (which is to say a partial eclipse of the moon) tomorrow (Tuesday, July 7th). It will be very hard to see, not only because its not a total eclipse, but also because it will happen at 5:21am when most of us are still quite asleep.
The second eclipse is a total solar eclipse on Tuesday, July 21st. It will be one of the longest eclipses in many years (lasting about 6 minutes and 40 seconds), and there won't be another like it until 2132! The eclipse should be around 10:35pm our time (I think?) so we may or not get so see much of it given the hour and our position.
The last eclipse of the summer will be another penumbral lunar eclipse (another partial eclipse) on August 5th. This eclipse will be more visible then the one in July, at least, so look out at 8:55pm to catch a glimpse.
There shouldn't be another eclipse again until the afternoon of New Year's Eve (and that one will only be a tiny sliver!), so enjoy the celestial spectacles while you can!

Cité Zen Urban Drumming - Drumming Workshop
The Magical Blend in collaboration with Cité Zen Urban Drumming are please to announce their debut drum circle workshop! This is an open class, no previous musical experience required. Just bring your enthousiasm!! Basic tam tam drumming techniques will be demonstrated with emphasis on group playing. This is a non traditional, high energy, maximun fun percussion activity! The theme is "Access to music for ALL!" We provide a beautiful djembe for you if required, or you may of course bring any of your own drums.

Angels and Synchronicity (Kate Lanxner )
In these uncertain times, one thing is certain: there are angels who are able to help us here on Earth. We have to remember to do two things: to first ask for help (aloud), and two, to notice when they are trying to get in touch with us. They let us know in several ways, but one of the most intriguing and fun ways is synchronicity. In the workshop we will come up with a definition of a "synchronicity moment", do some group sharing, do some writing or art (whatever comes easiest to you), and I will be presenting some angel material. There are certain things you can do in your daily life to attract the angels. I have been collaborating with the angels for nearly eighteen years, in spiritual guidance readings and healings as well as in workshops in Vermont and Switzerland.

Rainy day teas
Its been a rather rainy week hasn't it? And with more rain predicted, I'm pretty sure its safe to say that we've all hit a bit of a summer blah. I thought I'd offer a few nice tea ideas, to keep you cozy when its cool and wet or, to keep you cool when the heat gets to be too much.
Let's start with a few choice picks for warm teas. My favorite #1 rainy day tea is Monk's Blend. This is a nice dark tea, with hints of flowers, and it's just perfect for curling up with a nice book, or before meditations.
Another great tea for a day like this is our Bourbon Street Vanilla. Talk about a tea with personality! Sweet and nutty with a rich flavor that I personally just can't get enough of.
For iced teas, we have some AMAZING choices to offer. I HIGHLY recommend the On The Waterfront tea as a rainy day tea. It's a sweet blend of several kinds of mint with flowers and fruit. You barely need to sweeten it at all for it to be -just- right to cool you down.
And if you aren't so much a fan of mints, try our Organic Roman Provence tea. Its full of fruits and spice and with a touch of brown sugar makes a wonderful iced tea alternative.
